UPDATE: Highway 1 east of Salmon Arm down to single lane

Update 10:00 p.m

Single lane alternating traffic is now open at Canoe Beach Drive NE and Bernie Road for 5.4 km.

Update 3:30 p.m.

Highway 1 remains closed between Canoe Beach Drive NE and Bernie Road for a vehicle incident.

DriveBC has detours available on highway 97 and 97B. Highway 97A is not recommended as emergency crews respond to a vehicle incident near Davidson Drive.

Injuries are unknown at this time.

Highway 1 between Salmon Arm and Sicamous is at a standstill following what is being reported on Facebook as a head-on crash.

Two posts to the Shuswap Road Report private Facebook group state two semi trucks collided and are blocking the highway just west of Annis Bay.

There are no further details at this time.
