Small sinkhole closes North Okanagan bridge

The bridge is located on Grandview Flats Road near Corkscrew Road and was closed out of an abundance of caution

A small sinkhole has prompted the Township of Spallumcheen to close access to a rural area bridge.

Spallumcheen public works crews received reports that the sinkhole had appeared on the bridge on Grandview Flats Road Saturday afternoon, June 22.

Crews investigated and confirmed a small sinkhole has appeared in the path of travel.

The bridge has been closed out of an abundance of caution until crews can perform a thorough assessment of the situation on Monday, June 24, the township said in a release.

"Everyone is asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes," the township said.

The bridge is located in a rural area on Grandview Flats Road near Corkscrew Road.
