KF Aerospace founder Barry Lapointe has been appointed as an Officer to the Order of Canada.

“Barry Lapointe has made lasting contributions to our country’s aerospace industry,” reads a post on the Governor General (GC) of Canada website. “As a dedicated philanthropist, he has contributed to post-secondary institutions and recently opened the KF Centre for Excellence in Kelowna.”

GC Mary Simon announced 83 new appointments to the Order of Canada, including Lapointe, on June 27. The Order celebrates outstanding achievements and extraordinary contributions.

"The Order of Canada recognizes individuals who have made positive and lasting impacts on communities here in Canada or who have brought honour to our country abroad,” Simon said. “Congratulations to the new appointees and thank you to the nominators who cast a spotlight on their achievement, purpose and exceptional talent."

The Order of Canada is one of our country's highest honours. Appointees will be invited to an investiture ceremony later this year to receive their insignia.

KF Aerospace was established by Lapointe as Kelowna Flightcraft in March 1970.

It is now Canada’s largest commercial aeronautical maintenance, repair and overhaul provider. KF Aerospace also supports Royal Canadian Air Force pilot training and aircraft maintenance engineering instruction.
