Dangerous thunderstorms are in the forecast for the Thompson, Shuswap, North and Central Okanagan.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch on Wednesday morning.

The storm could bring strong wind gusts, large hail and torrential rain to the region.

Environment Canada states, “Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms.”

There is a heightened risk of debris flows over areas impacted by burn scars.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Meteorologists remind residents that, “When thunder roars, go indoors.”
