It will be a celebration of art, music and plants at the Art and Music in the Summerland Ornamental Gardens event on July 21.

The event includes live music along with artists and artisans showcasing their work among the trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals at the gardens.

Two musicians will perform during the day.

Evan Symons from Texada Island will play a mix of rock, folk, blues and country classic covers, as well as some of his original songs. Symons has toured Canada and has eight albums on his own label.

Barry Valgardson has played the accordion and keyboards for more than 35 years.  He is playing an electronic accordion these days with 40 different instrument voices in a variety of song styles and genres.

Treats will be available at the Cleo’s Gelato and Ice Cream truck onsite.

The event, at 4200 Hwy. 97 S. near Summerland, is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is by donation.

Those attending are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to eat in the shade.
