Chase RCMP along with the RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit have completed the investigation into the death of Chase resident Ross Russell McNichol.

McNichol, 63, was found deceased in his home on Friday, June 24.

An autopsy was performed on Monday, June 27 and was inconclusive as to reasons for McNichol’s death.

Chase Sgt. Troy Beauregard says a full and thorough investigation continued during the following weeks.

Police spoke with numerous people and were able to construct a concrete time line of McNichol’s movements in the days leading up to his death, including obtaining video surveillance images.

"Through the investigation, the autopsy, the pathologist report and a detailed forensic examination of the scene, police have determined that Mr. McNichol did not meet with foul play," said Beauregard.

"His death has been deemed accidental in nature and the injuries that lead to his death occurred in his home.  The autopsy results and pathologist’s findings match this determination."
