A dog loose in the eastbound lanes of the west side of the William R. Bennett Bridge caused a multi-vehicle crash, Tuesday evening.

At about 7:30 p.m. a vehicle slammed on its brakes to avoid a dog in the left lane of Highway 97, that vehicle was rear-ended by a second vehicle. The motorbike rider, who attempted to avoid the crash, slammed into the second vehicle.

The rider was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

All three vehicles had to be towed and it took more than an hour to clear the scene, causing traffic delays in the area.

Cpl. Michael Gauthier said the dog owner has been identified and the matter is under investigation.
